A Message From The Pastor

APRIL THEME: I Am

All four authors of the Gospel give account to the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour:

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” (Mt.28:6) - “He has risen! He is not here.” (Mk.16:6) - “He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee.” (Lk. 24:6)

John however recorded the Resurrection as one who had been there early that morning; he referred to himself as the other disciple who ran to the tomb with Peter. “Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.” (John 20:8)

What did John see to believe? What he saw were grave cloths neatly folded; what he didn’t see is Jesus’ body; He saw an empty tomb; Jesus was not there…just as He said!

You see, just a few days before, Jesus had declared to Martha: “I AM the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25)

John’s gospel is unique among the 4 gospels. He states his purpose for writing in 20:31, “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

John is also the one who recorded Jesus’ 7 great “I AM” claims in his book.

“I AM the bread of life; I AM the light of the world; I AM the door; I AM the Good Shepherd; I AM the Resurrection and the Life; I AM the Way the Truth and the Life; I AM the True Vine.

Join us for the next 6 weeks, “I AM” desires to be known as the God who is present and active in your day to day living.

Blessings,

Rev. Ginette Howse
